Post a thought, an article, a photograph, a question, a passage from a book, or something from ordinary life that you cannot stop thinking about.
The Feed is a place to discover what other Catholics are reading, noticing, making, and carrying with them.
When people would not come to hear St. Francis de Sales preach, he wrote short texts that were posted, slipped under doors, and passed from hand to hand.
Give questions the space they deserve.
Bring the context. Tell the whole story. Ask about faith, relationships, work, culture, family, vocation, or life in the Church.
The Forum is built for questions that need more than a comment section.
Some conversations become better when they are allowed to take time.
Write to one person at a time, a friend or someone you have not met yet, and say the thing that does not fit inside a comment.
Letters is the slowest surface in Epistula, and that is the point.
Letters in Epistula do not arrive instantly. They travel for two days, four days, sometimes a week.
The delay changes the way we write. There is no blinking typing indicator. No pressure to answer immediately. No need to keep a conversation alive simply because both people happen to be online.
Find a spiritual friend to write to
Choose a pen name and send your first letter out to sea. It may find its way to someone who shares your interests, questions, or season of life. Without profiles to impress or instant replies to manage, you can get to know one another slowly, through the simple act of writing back.
In 1895, the young seminarian Maurice Bellière asked the Carmel of Lisieux for a sister who would support his missionary vocation through prayer. Thérèse was chosen as his “spiritual sister.”
Keep a place for what is still becoming clear.
Write privately with daily prompts and guided experiences, including Morning Pages, the Examen, and thematic reflections.
Your Journal gives you somewhere to notice patterns, return to questions, and keep the thoughts that are not ready to be shared.
St. John Paul II kept private spiritual notebooks for decades. In his will, he asked that his personal notes be burned. Some writing is valuable precisely because it was never meant for an audience.
Some thoughts become clearer when they are spoken aloud. With voice transcription, you can dictate your Journal entry naturally and watch your words become a page.
St. Catherine of Siena received no formal education and dictated much of her writing to secretaries. More than 380 of her letters survive, addressed to popes, rulers, religious leaders, friends, and people seeking her counsel.

What is Epistula?
Epistula is a Catholic community app with a social Feed, discussion Forums, delayed virtual Letters, and a private Journal with guided writing experiences.

Who can join?

Epistula is being created for practising Catholics from different countries, cultures, vocations, and stages of life. The community will have clear participation guidelines to help conversations remain thoughtful, charitable, and genuinely useful.
When will Epistula launch?
Epistula is currently in private testing. Members of the waitlist will be the first to hear when invitations begin. We plan to open the first invitations later this year.

What happens when I join the waitlist?

We will keep your place and email you when access opens. You can also choose to receive occasional notes about the development of Epistula.
Will my Journal be private?
Yes. Journal entries are private and separate from content you choose to publish in the Feed or Forum.

Will Epistula be free?
Much of it, yes. The Feed and the Forum are free, and so is keeping a Journal and writing letters. A single subscription opens the guided writing experiences in the Journal and removes the limit on how many letters you can have in transit. We will never charge for access to the community itself.
